Cripes, everything in my module tunnel is taking advantage of this lovely sunshine; the broad beans
have shot up (eek! steady on boys), the lettuces and endives have survived the -8C, and the micro-leaved mustards, leaf radish and leaf celery have also mostly pulled through. I also have a few odds and sods left over from salad leaf planting in the tunnel at the end of last year, which have managed to keep going, so I might use them to fill in the gaps left by marauding mice scoffing Bulls Blood beetroot and chicory leaves in the tunnels.
The tunnel does look lovely in the weak February sunshine though: a nice mix of reds and greens, all warming up after the big freeze, breathing a sigh of relief, and looking forward to spring. I hadn’t got the heart to tell them that the forecast for the end of the week is cold again.
