Brass Monkeys

IMG-20121213-00114Cor, it was rather nippy outside today: I managed to pick just over 3kg of baby leeks (digging each one up with the fork through solid mud), and threw ice all over myself when taking the net off the brassicas to pick some Savoys and kale. Lovely. Think I’ll wait until tomorrow before trying for some more leeks: it’s wierdly going to warm up over night, and should be around 10C tomorrow afternoon.

The salad leaves have frozen in terms of their growing too: they were pretty safe in the polytunnels, although they did look pretty cold this morning; but I think it’ll be a while before they’re actively growing again. Looks like things are shutting up shop for Christmas early this year: I hope I can get another picking off things next week, just in time for the festive week ahead…
